Tangled ( An Animated Film )

Tangled

This newest animated feature to hit the big screen is the funny and adventurous Tangled, based on the story of Rapunzel. An elderly lady, Mother Gothel, voiced by Donna Murphy, is in possession of a magical flower that keeps one young while singing to it. This flower is stolen from her by the queen’s royal guards, who take it back to their sick and expecting mistress.

The flower heals the queen and she gives birth to Rapunzel, who has inherited the mysterious flower’s powers through her long, golden hair. Once Gothel finds out, she kidnaps Rapunzel and raises her as her own child in a tower.

Many years later, when Rapunzel, voiced by Mandy Moore is about to turn 18, she tells Gothel she wants to go see the floating lanterns that appear once a year, to which Gothel refuses, telling Rapunzel that the world outside is a dangerous place.

One day Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi), a thief who has stolen a royal tiara, stumbles into Rapunzel’s tower while escaping palace guards. Rapunzel strikes a deal with him; in return for the tiara she has seized from Flynn, he will take her out to see the floating lights. Flynn agrees and so begins their adventure, with the law hot on Flynn’s pursuit and Mother Gothel fervently and cunningly searching for Rapunzel.

Since its release a couple of months ago, Tangled, the most expensive animated film ever made costing $260 million – has been a box office smash the world over, fittingly for Disney’s 50th animated film.
